Conquered the Outback

It has been ages since I have posted and for good reason. Emlyn, Susan, and myself just spent seven days in the Outback, with no hope for any internet. We fortunately made it out alive with no chargable damage to our camper van nor any bodily harm.

During the six nights we stayed in Alice Springs, Uluru, mystery free campsite (near King's Creek), Bon Bon, Port Germaine, and Adelaide. We saw a snake (the tail of it), kangaroos (sprawled dead across the road), emus, cattle, and massive eagles. The weather was alright, a bit cold during the day and freezing at night.

We saw some amazing sunsets and so many stars. The outback was incredibly flat and plain that it was captivating. I kept wondering how I was not getting bored of it but I just could not stop staring.

Emlyn and I mastered driving. He had not driven since he earned his license (two years ago) and I do not drive manuals or on the left hand side. Susan was quite nervous but after the first day of us driving she was very impressed. I really enjoyed both Emlyn and Susan's company and could not have asked for a better trip.

I will do more extensive updating in the near future (I know I have said this several times, but when Susan leaves on Wednesday I will devote a couple of hours to emails and blogs). I feel some of my family and friends are a bit resentful of my lack of communication so I hope to remedy this with better communication.

Alright, on to emails. Please be patient!!!

Thank you everyone for your emails and thoughts.

hmm, you pretty much had the opposite weather i did. sunny and outlandishly hot during the day (100+ in the shade) and just plain hot at night, with rain and no stars.

free camping = Curtin Springs Roadhouse on the lasseter highway. can't believe i remember that!

glad to hear you had a great road trip!
