Pre-Easter Weekend
Easter Weekend
This will be a brief post as it is in regards to events approaching and not events gone past. This weekend (I have both Friday and Monday off) I am going to Hunter Valley with six other people (three of them from work) for a wine tour. We are staying in what looks like a really posh cottage a couple hours north of Sydney. This trip is going to be heaps of fun and I will put a full post on sometime next week.
Other pressing things happening right now:
-my pay has been incorrect due to excessive taxing. Two weeks ago my check was significantly less and I found out the government taxed me 46% for some reason. I am supposed to pay only 29%. I contacted my agency and they told me something on my tax declaration was incorrect. I refiled the form and unfortunately did it wrong again! My next week went through incorrectly. After several phone calls and in person meetings, I was able to get one week adjusted and the other is a lost cause. I filled the form out a third time today and hopefully next week’s pay will be correct.
-lack of shower facilities at my current dwelling; we had a gym membership for eight days but that has since expired and we no longer have anywhere to shower. Fortunately I am going out of town and will not have to worry about showering this weekend. The landlord initially informed us the shower would be out of order for three to four days and sorry for the inconvenience. Xavier argued with him and told him he MUST provide an alternative means for us to shower, hence the gym membership. As I said before, that membership has expired and our landlord is out of town for six weeks. His son has been handling our place ever since and really had no idea what is going on (he is only 23). Our house is up in arms and refusing to pay rent until we have the shower fixed. There is no for sure finished time, only an approximation of next Tuesday or Wednesday, but we are keeping our fingers crossed for an early finish. Tilers were in today working so that is definitely a good sign.
I am still going to the beaches as much as I can.
I barely survived the tsunami! We were under a warning and all of the beaches were closed and ferry services were suspended. It was only precautionary and nothing came of it…as of now.
Here we go wine tour!!!!

Glad the wine tour will bring you to a shower. Dave goes to wine country April 15th and I will be going to wine country May 4th. Just not in Australia. Sounds like we are all winos! Have a great Easter holiday. Look forward to your next blog.

that is hilarious your shower is broken...not hilarious b/c it's inconvenient, but hilarious b/c I can just picture you showering in other public areas, like you do in MN (the Field House, The River, etc.) and it's funny that your landlord's alternative was a gym membership to use showers! again, only funny b/c we've joked about you living in a cardboard box and only paying a gym membership to keep clean and hold a job! :)
