So much good news!!!
Hello everyone! I come to this post with a feeling of accomplishment. So much news to report. About 10 minutes ago, I found my place to live! Coming to look at the room, I was quite skeptical. However, when I stepped off the tube and started to walk towards this potential home, I started to get this good feeling. The room (my room, ha) is only about a three minute walk from the Westbourne Park tube stop and has loads of different buses right there. This is a very important thing because I depend on public transport and to have so much so close is incredible. I arrived early and decided to have a look around the neighborhood. I have a park about a one minute walk that has some sort of canal/river that will be great for runs. I also have an internet cafe three doors down, a nice supermarket two blocks away and loads of Middle Eastern restaurants with cheap food (but delicious). There is also quite a few small ma and pa shops that sell fresh fruit and everything else you could possibly ever want (including my landlord's right below me).
Now for the flat itself. I have a single room on the third floor. It has a bed, a dresser, and a wardrobe. There is also a fan too (what an awesome perk!). I share a bathroom with the other residents, which there is only one right now. The bathroom is a bit sketchy, but nothing I cannot handle. I share the kitchen (quite large) with the house and also the washing machine. The one twist to my room is that I must walk through another man's room to get into mine, but apparently this is no big deal because he agreed to it. Overall, I believe this place will work well for me. The price is £80 and that is not too incredibly expensive (average to slightly below average). I really was getting tired of the whole hostel thing and not wanting to take out anything unnecessary for the fact I would have to pack it again later. After last night (involving three men and a woman jumping in our room from an outside balcony and lots of screaming at various parts of the night, I am excited to have my own room). One more night in the hostel!
Next, I worked my first job last night. I was a bartender for an event in the Victoria & Albert museum (one of the more popular and famous museums in South Kensington) . It was through Channel four (yes a TV channel) and had about 1,000 guests. I poured loads of champagne. The event was quite posh with a beautiful garden, music, and a nice atmosphere. I worked from 16:30 to 23:30 and then had a cab home (they paid for it). I actually had quite a bit of fun working and am excited to see where the next event takes me.
In addition to this, I had another interview yesterday. This position for a classroom assistant in a wide variety of London schools. I may be an aid to students with disabilities, work with children with severe or mild behavioural and/or learning disabilities, or working in mainstream classrooms with everyday children. The woman I spoke with said I was extremely qualified and should have no problem receiving work. I now have to wait for my police scan and references to check out. My placements can either be for a day, a week, a term, it all depends what comes around.
So in all, I have registered at three temp agencies: One for catering; one for office work; and one for classroom assistants. Talk about playing the field and getting a wide sampling. I may possibly continue to look for a long term placement but I am not sure. Here, I can really pick and choose my jobs, make sure I have certain days off (for people visiting or travelling I want to do) and have a nice variety. I think it may help me decide the type of work I want to do when I return to the States.
Okay, this blog is getting quite long. I had figured I would not blog again until tomorrow, but I wanted to share the good news with everyone! Now lets hope I do not receive a call from my landlord telling me tough luck I gave away your place.
I hope all is well in the States and that you continue to enjoy reading of my experiences! Please send emails! I love them. Also feel free to call me (let me know if you want my number). Have a great day! Until the next time.
Cheers!

i know you can handle sharing a bathroom. If you could live through berland's rotten be-hind, my 5:30 am showers, and keiths awesome streaks, you can handle anything.
Adam, you're lucky to have an awesome aunt that cares about you so much. One that feeds you with excellent food and lets you use her pool. She is great. Have a good day!
Alex: I love your talk show posts! Hahah...the Murray one literally made me laugh out loud, and it was quite embarassing because I was in a quiet room with co-workers :)
Oh, Adam, I'm so glad you were able to find a room you need to walk through another man's room to get to (eeks, what if he brings home a girl) and a job!
Middle Eastern restaurants? Did someone say couscous? tajean? panini? hehehehe! Don't forget... even though an entire meal may only cost 15 deirhams, and there are stray cats running inside and out of the kitchen, and no other customers seem to be eating at the place - you more than likely won't get sick, take a chance! :)
Thanks for the update, it all sounds good. Possibly too good! I was kinda hoping you would not fall into place so easily. It doesn't sound like homesick will hit you anytime too soon. Darn. Middle Eastern food, num! Enjoy your life! Love, Aunt Lynn
Adam, I ditto what aunt Lynn said...I am glad everything is falling into place for you. Do you make tips at the job you were pouring champagne? What is the weather like? Love mom
Well well well, I had an uper duper early class this morning, so i was able to get back in time for price is right, and this african american man (I'm politically correct) won the double showcase. He was only $89 off. It was the coolest thing since....... the Dirty Dancing Gold Edition DVD. I should have danced with shannon though.... dang it
Alex, BUSTED!!! Isn't this Blog a great thing! Or, maybe not so great. Happy Studying, Love, Aunt Lynn
Adam--
Glad to hear everything is going well and you found a place to live that will actually be yours! Is it common in London to share a bathroom and kitchen with other housemates? Just curious...keep it up buddy! Keep smilin! ***Rita***
This sure is cool, I can keep up with 2 sons at once!! Alex did you watch Montel today?
Did I watch montel? You can bet your bottom dollar i watched montel
Hi Adam
Your Dad just taught me about the world of Blogging...very cool. Now I need to catch up with all of this reading. Hey, how can I become a member of the Aunt Lynn Fan Club?
Glad everything is going well Adam...Love you!
Jane (Choo Choo's wife)
ADAM..
I'm sooo extremely happy to hear that things are going well for you. You found a place to live, a job...everything is going as expected. I knew it all would!! I walked to LUNDS grocery store tonight and thought of you. I move to your neighborhood and you move away...hmm....is this a hint? :) Take care and I promise I'll e-mail soon!! Luv yah!! Susan
Correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe that the blue ones are the actual members or the official, "Bloggers." Because if you click on the blue ones, it will bring you to their "profile"
My apologies to Becky and everyone else. I will get the Aunt Lynn Fan Page back up soon. It's under construction right now, that's why you get the error page. The original site didn't maximize her greatness as much as I'd envisioned.
Alex - get off the computer and watch some tv.
Adam, I think we need to hear from you again. We are having way too much fun corresponding without you! I am reading more than I need to about "Aunt Lynn Fan Club" What's UP??? This is Adam's Fan Club site isn't it? And, Adam has many, many more Aunts. Sounds like Aunt Mary is pretty cool! All I can say is "Welcome to The ADAM Family". Who would have thought Adam's family would embarrass him before his friends did on this Blog Site. Oh What fun. By the way, Pool Party at my house tonight! Sorry Adam you can not attend, we are here and you are not. Love, Aunt Lynn
Yeah, Mary you're right, i guess i should limit myself to dancing with middle aged women... I have been known to drive those one nuts. Cuz seriously Mary, what are you now? 28? Give or take a couple, i know i'm close. And Adam, don't worry i must have also been in Europe when aunt lynn had her pool party. Unfortunately i was not able to catch montel today due to a poopy lab report that had to get done, and my keys weren't typing themselves. Well, I need to go get my jean jacket back from George Michaels, and listen to some Righteous brothers to get into the zone.
Alex, you are my hero. I couldn't go a day without Mon Tell.
Adam, let me know when you do Buckingham. I'd like you to ask the queen to do a favor for me.
Mary, you can say hi to him yourself, all you gotta do is have faith...Oh but i need some time off from that emotion... whoa, my bad. That man just gets to me
Adam, Grandma Harty is happy that all is well with you. She thinks the Bank opportunity would be very good experience. She wants to know what the Britts are saying about USA both on the news and on the streets. Grandma misses you and sends her love! Love, Grandma
Alex (AKA Mr. Daytime TV)- You were invited through this blog site! That WAS the announcement. I didn't think you could make it because either you were watching TV or studying. That's okay, the Tornado and Straight line winds closed down the pool. Catch you next Spring!
Auntie Mary: Hi! I am Lynn, My little brother is Mr. Choo Choo.
Although I am not sure I should admit that. Actually, I got so frightened at Mary's wedding that my husband and I started Ballroom dancing this past Tuesday. I made sure that we would NOT be learning the Choo Choo! Mary the Bride was BEAUTIFUL wasn't she!!!!!!!!!!!
Becky: I am glad I could put a smile on your pretty little face. Although I believe you probably always wear a smile!
Uncle Gibbs: If and when Mom reads these blogs, she will be on the phone asking you NOT to encourage Alex any more!!!! Right Mr. Choo Choo?!?!
Hi Dasha!!!!! Nice to see you on the Blog Site.
Susan: Is that really you?! The Susan from Wisconsin??? Welcome to the cities!
Ben: Are you the one responsible for this "Aunt Lynn's Fan Club" roomer? Hope you enjoyed the pool party last night. (Oops, sorry Alex). I believe I heard you guys complaining about Ladam's Rotten Be-hind when we were in Florida!
ADAM - HELP!!!!! Please stop this nonsense. We really should hear from you. (I bet you were surprised when you opened your Blog site and saw what you call "My Family" carrying on). You started this darn thing! Miss you!!!! And, Aunt Mary, you are right, I have no life! But, how can you pass up this much fun?!?!?!
Adam...where are you?
Lynn, did I detect a little bit of negativity toward your brother's dancing skills? It's a good thing that I'm a member of your fan club, or I might be insulted. I personally wouldn't even consider a ballroom dance school that did not include instruction on the Choo Choo. This newest dance sensation should make you proud to be a Lukoskie - I'm sure that Adam and Alex are.
I'm so glad that my much older sister Mary is taking time off from her communications on the CB radio to enter the world of blogging...10-4 good buddy.
Adam...where are you?
Love, StepMom Jane
Jane, you are absolutely right. I rethought my Choo Choo experience at the Wedding. It was one of the HIGHLIGHTS of the event. Not to downplay the true meaning of why we were there!!!! I WILL be introducing the new steps to my Ballroom instructor. As soon as I can get the facial expression down correctly! Of course anything my little brother does is more prescious to me than anything in the world! Love ya Gregg. By the way, "Step Mom Jane" is only to let Adam's friends know the relationship to "The Adam Family". Jane is nothing like the Cinderella Step Mom!!! She is a wonderful, caring, talented person! Back to work, Bye!!!
